We all work in a field  which is constantly evolving with the development of technology, and one can’t survive here unless he/she keeps  going on with the progress, web designing is an ever changing field and if you don’t keep yourself updated with the latest technological developments and trends, then you will simply die. Practices which are normal today may not be as important tomorrow, and there will be changes   which are  actually good for our own sake. Now everyone knows that and everyone has their own way to stay in the race, in this article I will share mine, things that I think really works, check them out.

Observe- You know you are the best right? So is there any need to observe other’s work? Yes! If you want to take your designing skill to the next level then have to keep learning, now I know that you are at a stage where there is nothing left to learn, what’s next? Like I said observing other’s work, CSS gallery and website showcase are two nice places where you can see a whole lot of new things to learn, as we all know designers from all around the world who are proud of their work submit their sites here, and you will definitely find some of them worth giving a look.

Designers  forum- Participating in these kind of forums can be very beneficial as you will be interacting with those  people who actually belong to your field and capable of giving feed backs with constructive criticism. As a designer it’s important that our boss or client   should like our work as they are the one who pay the bills, but that shouldn’t be sufficient  for our hunger of learning more.

Graphic design-   Although our works are all about web and hardly deal with offline designing, but one must not forget that this web designing actually came from graphic design, and a great designer  should never neglect this part, one can follow design books and magazines for inspiration, photography and abstract art can be a good source as well, integrating those styles into your web design can help you to stay ahead of the others.

Technology-   Web designing is a combination of two things, it lies between what a designer can imagine and what the current technology is capable of doing. Now as a designer you may think that you don’t need to know all these …but when you want to stay ahead then it’s a different   matter and you gotta stretch yourself. Knowing about the content management system, server side scripting will help you to stand in a different from the others.

Blogging- Get engaged in the world of blogging, you see you can interact with many people through your blog ,As well as this  will give you platform to present your works also. This will help you to establish your online identity, hence increasing your online reputation. Blogging not only means managing your blog only but to visit others blog   also, and whenever you get to see a worthy blog, you subscribe to that and this will continue to deliver you the latest updates and information.

When it’s about staying ahead then one should keep   looking for things that others don’t do, and the hunger for learning more, the passion for web designing is what it takes to fuel your career progress unless you want to be one of those 9 to 5 designers throughout your entire life.
